Originally Erie Sandstone had proven the test of time on buildings and structures for over 100 years since the mineral silica is abundant it has one of the lowest co-efficients of expansion of any mineral. From curbing of streets to the tons of Erie sandstone that lined the furnaces of the steel industry. The stones' adapdability makes it wonderful for uses in landscaping applications of retaining walls, seawalls, steps, footpaths, waterfeatures as well as architectural splitface, ashlar and paving stone.
Color: Beige, Gray or Buff.
Geologist Notes: From deposits from over 300 million years ago this stone is quarried from the oldest and largest mines in existence. During the Carboniferous period, rock minerals such as Silica, Magnesia and Lime were carried and deposited to form a truly durable sandstone.
